Waiting On Wednesday (753) All's Fair in Love and Pizza by Lane Hayes

Expected Publication: May 16, 2026
Genre: MM, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This is my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

A bake-off between enemies…what could go wrong?

Mateo:

Can you believe this? Haverton’s football hero is opening a bagel shop next to my pizzeria and he’s selling—wait for it—pizza bagels. The nerve!

And this guy isn’t above using his fame to attract clients. It’s annoying and yes, I’m feeling a little crusty about the situation. My temper has gotten me into a few binds, but a pizza bagel war? This is a first.

I’m gonna crush him.

Rob:

After years of playing in the pros, I’m beat. All I want is to open a bagel shop in the town that gave me a shot at the big time. I’d love some peace and quiet too, however, I won’t be getting that with Mateo Cavaretti next door.

Geez, I can’t believe I had a crush on that guy in college. Sure, he’s still incredibly good-looking, but he’s a grouch. And while I like my business partner’s idea to settle our dispute with a classic bake-off, Mateo and I can’t be in the same room without fireworks going off.

Is all truly fair in love and pizza…and bagels?

Short, sweet, and light reading is about all I can handle right now. (I think attempting to read anything angsty would really bring me down!) I do like reading this author, so I hope I like this.

This is my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

When Eddie Salcedo is found dead on his boat, Coral Cove residents assume it’s a tragic fishing accident. Case closed.

But their new police chief, Declan Hale, doesn’t buy it. The details don’t line up, and the deeper he looks, the more the truth starts to shift beneath his feet.

Then there’s Spencer Cross, the local reporter who seems to be everywhere Declan turns. Sharp, observant, and far too good at reading between the lines. Spencer isn’t trying to interfere. He’s just doing his job. But the more questions he asks, the more dangerous things become.

As Declan works to uncover what really happened to Eddie on the water that night, he finds himself drawn to the one person he should be keeping at arm’s length. And Spencer is starting to realize that some stories don’t just cost you your relationships —

They can cost you your life.

I recently finished reading this author's last series, and when I went to Goodreads to mark it as read, I discovered the first book in a new series has already been released! I am SO out of the loop lately.
I'm spending the most part of every day at the hospital with my Dad (5 weeks!) and I hardly have time to visit my Mom at the memory care home, so working is non-existant and reading is a low priority right now.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

It is 1821 and Nicolas-Marc, Comte de Valois de La Motte is making a splash in London Society. The son of Jeanne de Valois de La Motte, infamous for stealing a priceless diamond necklace meant for Marie Antoinette, Nico hopes to restore his wronged mother's reputation, if only he can raise the funds. But he must operate with great secrecy, because the Bourbon dynasty murdered his mother, and he fears for his life.

At least, that's what he tells Titus Pilcrow. Titus was a simple shopkeeper, making and selling artists' paints, when he found himself suddenly married to an immensely wealthy woman who wanted to disinherit her nephew on her deathbed. As word spreads of his fortune, Titus finds himself a target of every scammer and beggar in London . . . including one Nicolas-Marc, Comte de Valois de La Motte.

Nico is on his last legs, out of money, and on the run from some terrifying gangsters. When Titus offers Nico a space in his household, it's the perfect chance for him to exploit London's newest golden purse - until he falls in love with the man he needs to cheat. Still, Nico is sure they can have a happy ending together. If he can just find his way out of his own web of lies . . .

I haven't read anything by this author since The Will Darling Adventures ended in 2021 or so. I'm looking forward to diving back into some historical romance!

Waiting On Wednesday (750) A Present Mistake (Deadly Mistakes Book 3) by Alice Winters

Expected Publication: April 7, 2026
Genre: MM, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings

(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This is my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Liam:

This was never supposed to happen.

My desire to rid the world of these vile people who make others suffer was never supposed to bleed into my personal life, but here I am… sorting out the pieces to keep my two lives separate.

Of course, Gabriel is the good that keeps me balanced. He makes me laugh, he makes me happy, and he makes me feel emotions I never thought were possible. But when a body is found at the zoo, unveiling a string of murders that go back years, we’re both pulled in… and we soon realize that we’re not the only ones working in the shadows.

Gabriel:

Liam’s pleased that I’ve caved and moved myself and my beloved cat into his spacious house after mere weeks of dating. I just need to watch out, or he’ll be proposing to me the next chance he gets. Life with him is amazing.

But our newest case leads us to a crossroads where we have to decide whether we should do things the proper way or Liam’s way. And I have to admit that the line of what is right and wrong is beginning to blur as a serial killer draws us into his web. He just doesn’t realize that he’s not the only hunter spinning it.

Liam is a straight up serial killer(who only kills 'bad' guys.) I still don't know how I'm supposed to be offended by that when the author uses humor to defuse the wrongness of it.
