Waiting On Wednesday (310) Fragments of the Lost by Megan Miranda

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, previously hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Expected publication: November 14th 2017 by Crown Books for Young Readers

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Jessa Whitworth knew she didn’t belong in her ex-boyfriend Caleb’s room. But she couldn’t deny that she was everywhere—in his photos, his neatly folded T-shirts, even the butterfly necklace in his jeans pocket…the one she gave him for safe keeping on that day.

His mother asked her to pack up his things—even though she blames Jessa for his accident. How could she say no? And maybe, just maybe, it will help her work through the guilt she feels about their final moments together.

But as Jessa begins to box up the pieces of Caleb’s life, they trigger memories that make Jessa realize their past relationship may not be exactly as she remembered. And she starts to question whether she really knew Caleb at all.

Each fragment of his life reveals a new clue that propels Jessa to search for the truth about Caleb’s accident. What really happened on the storm-swept bridge?

I read this author's earlier YA books, so I figured I would give Fragments of the Lost a go. I've been meaning to read her 2 adult suspense/thriller books, All The Missing Girls and The Perfect Stranger, but I haven't gotten around to them yet.

Review: WILD by Adrienne Wilder

WILD by Adrienne Wilder
Published September 1, 2017
Page Count: 326
Genre: M/M, Romance

Synopsis from Goodreads:

August Vallory had it all. A modeling career, a man he loved, and the extended family he’d acquired in the business. Then the world he knew was torn away when the plane he was on crashed en route to a photo shoot.

Lost in the Alaskan wilderness, August doesn’t stand a chance.

No sane man would choose to live in the Alaskan bush unless he had something to hide. And Keegan Brooks has secrets darker than night, more dangerous than wolves, more brutal than an Alaskan winter.

Every day was a fight for his life until he stumbled upon a downed plane with a lone survivor. Now it’s no longer just Keegan’s life teetering on the edge of survival.

It’s his heart.

I ended up having mixed feelings about Wild. It started off really intense, but things went sideways for me after that. I guess I just expected more to happen during the story. It took me a bit of time to get through the book because it slowed down in the middle. Also, the setting didn't change, so I got a little bored.

August and Keegan were likable, yet a little bland, and I never really connected with either one. I did admire their strength, tenacity, and resourcefulness though. I know I certainly wouldn't want to test my own survival skills the way they did!

What bothered me the most about August and Keegan's relationship was it seemed that their feelings for each other only developed due to proximity and necessity. They literally couldn't live without the other. So it didn't feel like 'love' to me.

I wasn't satisfied with how the book ended. It was just too nice and neat after so much devastation and near death experiences. And that was a lame ass epilogue after such an intense book. So, overall, I liked this book well enough. I just didn't love it.

My Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars

Her dad’s an alcoholic. Her mom passed away when she was young. She sees dead people. Can seventeen-year-old Riley Smith’s life get any crazier? Yes it can.

And just when things seem like they couldn’t get any more complicated, she’s visited by another ghost, a boy her age, whose smile makes her melt. I haven't read anything by this author before, but I saw this book on Jessica's A Great Read blog and I had to add it to my tbr.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Former FBI agent Melissa “Mel” Cruz spent years skirting the line between life and death, knowing the next assignment might be her last. Back from overseas and eager to enjoy life outside the Bureau, she's ready to give Danny Talley a Christmas Eve he'll never forget.

A proven asset in high stakes missions, Danny's known for having the skill and brains to get the job done. When the Talley Flag Ship is hijacked during the company holiday party, he’ll do anything to save his family, his love, and everything they’ve all worked so hard to build. But their enemies have a secondary protocol—leave no survivors—and that plan is already in play.

Navigating through a tangled web of lies and betrayal, Mel and Danny race against the clock to retake the ship before their future goes up in flames. As the seconds tick down, they're forced to face their greatest fear—losing each other.

This is a spin off novella from the Agents Irish and Whiskey Series, which I loved. I have an eArc of this that I plan to read soon!
