With the commissioner’s badge and family in jeopardy, Cosmo has no choice but to put his life on the line…

Can the witch expose a dark conspiracy, save John’s career, and return to love’s delicious spell?

Ooh, another 'surprise' release!! Sometimes, with Indie authors, release dates come and go. Even books that are up for pre-order on Amazon can get pushed back. So I try not to get my hopes up waiting for a book that may not be released on time. But YAY when I get a book that I can't wait to read. It's already on my Kindle, I just have to finish the book I'm currently reading first!

Waiting On Wednesday (488) The Quiet House (Black and Blue #2) by Lily Morton

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Levi Black has mostly recovered from the events of a year ago. The only lingering effects are that he’s much more well known in York than he’d like to be, and he’s a lot more cautious about walking around his house naked. However, those events brought him the capricious and fascinating Blue, so he’s not complaining. On the contrary, he’s happy, in love, and looking forward to Blue finally moving in with him. And if sometimes he wonders what Blue sees in a boring cartoonist, he keeps that to himself.

Blue Billings is finally ready to throw off the memories of his past and move in with the person who means the most in the world to him. His psychic abilities have grown in the last year to his mentor Tom's consternation, but Blue is determined to look on the bright side. He’s also focused on ignoring all the warning signs that he’s received lately.

However, even deeply buried secrets have a way of rising to the surface. And when a surprise from Blue’s past turns up and draws them away to a lonely house on the Yorkshire moors, Levi and Blue must fight for their survival once again.

Just like my WoW last week, this is another book that it seems I've been waiting forever for. Book #1 came out in Nov. 2019, but I didn't read it until Feb. 2020. However, I heard nothing about book #2 until last week when it showed up on Goodreads and Amazon! What a nice surprise.

And, once again, I will have to do a reread of book #1 to refresh my memory!

Waiting On Wednesday (487) Dark Mire (Kildevil Cove Murder Mysteries #2) by J.S. Cook

Expected publication: March 30th 2021 by Dreamspinner Press
Genre: M/M, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

You never know what trouble will rise from the bog.

When the body of an unidentified woman is found in a Newfoundland bog, Inspector Danny Quirke must scramble his team of investigators to find her killer. But what initially seems like a straightforward case soon becomes mired in a tangled web of lies and deliberate obfuscation.

With the strange mutilation of the body—one eye gouged out completely—evidence seems to lead to a fringe religious group with bizarre beliefs. But while the pathologist indicates mushroom poisoning as the cause of death, Danny thinks circumstances point to something more sinister—especially when he begins to receive anonymous messages with links to horrific pictures of damaged human eyes.

Three more bodies join the first, with seemingly nothing to link them but a little girl in a yellow party dress who flits in and out of the mystery like a creature from the old legends. Then an old friend from his childhood reappears, and Danny is forced to confront uncomfortable truths about his own nearest and dearest.

On an island, everyone is a suspect…

I had almost given up hope that this series would be continued. It's only been a year since the first book, but this author hasn't released anything since then - not even under her other pen name. So this is a total surprise to me.
I DO remember enjoying the first book for the most part, although some of the time/place/happenings were a bit muddled, and the romance was mostly blah. I haven't read anything else by this author, so I think her writing style threw me off - too much heavy dialect and moody 'atmosphere'. I may have to do a reread of book #1 to refresh my memory.

Waiting On Wednesday (486) Indirection (Borealis: Without a Compass #1) by Gregory Ashe

Expected publication: March 19th 2021 by Hodgkin and Blount
Genre: M/M, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Rabid readers. Backbiting authors. A romance convention from hell.

Shaw Aldrich and his best friend, boyfriend, and partner, North McKinney, are doing great, thanks. The aftermath of their search for the Slasher has finally settled down. Their private investigation agency is thriving. And after years of missed opportunities, they’re finally together. Sure, work might be taking up every spare minute, and their time together as a couple might have evaporated—but that’s normal, right?

When an author asks for their help investigating threats against a gay romance convention, Shaw sees an opportunity to shake up their routine and maybe have some fun. But the convention isn’t what he expects. Between the rabid fans and the backbiting authors, the death threats—which seem totally baseless—are the least of North and Shaw’s worries.

Until, that is, a bestselling author is poisoned in the middle of a panel. Then Shaw and North must race against the clock to find the killer before he (or she) escapes—and before the convention ends. But romance authors are more complicated than either North or Shaw expects, and a treacherous web knits the suspects together.

Shaw and North will have to unravel a skein of lies and half-truths to uncover the killer. It doesn’t help that, on top of everything else, Shaw just wants to find his next favorite book—and, if it isn’t asking too much, have sex with North at least one more time in his current incarnation.

Indirection is the first book in a follow-up series; read North and Shaw’s first adventures in The Borealis Investigations, beginning with Orientation.

Ooh, a follow up series! Me likey!! I enjoyed reading the first series about these guys, so I was happy to find out their story is continuing.
This author currently lives in St. Louis, and this story is set there. I live in the suburbs of St. Louis (okay, it's the next county, but whatever) not downtown or south city, so it's interesting to see someone else's view of the area.

Waiting On Wednesday (485) Stud (Four Bears Construction #5) by K.M. Neuhold

Expected publication: March 11, 2021
Genre: M/M, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Stud: A boss, knob, or nail head...or, you know, the hot guy who’s way too young to keep asking me out with that adorably earnest smile …

It’s been three years since West walked into my bar and asked me out for the first time. I was relieved he stopped asking after the first few “no”s and a way-too-good-to-be-real kiss. He’s fifteen years younger than I am; it can only lead to trouble.

Of course, now he’s running through people off dating apps like it’s his job and wearing these lace panties that look really unfair on someone as furry and muscular as he is, and, um...what was I talking about?

I probably shouldn’t sabotage his dates, but I’m only human. I might not be ready to admit that I want him, but I’m definitely not ready to let anyone else have him either.

He’s too perfect, too hot, and I am in way too much trouble…

This cover does nothing for me!!! Too muscular. Too young. Too muscular. Oh well, at least I know this is a series about construction workers and not body builders. Sigh. And I have actually enjoyed the series, so I'm looking forward to reading this one.
