Q: What is the last book that made you cry? Tell us about the scene...

I cry over every little thing. The news. Commercials. If it's anything even remotely sad, I will be a blubbering mess. So of course I cry while reading. I just finished The Story of Us 3 days ago and it took me forever to read the last few pages. I can't say what happens because I don't want to spoil the story, but OMG I totally saw it coming and I was still unprepared! Tears! Snot! Where are my tissues?!?! And I'm not embarrassed because no member of my family was around to witness it this time. Well, except for the cat and dog, but they aren't telling!

Q: Books are turned into movies all the time! Turn it around. What movie would make a great book?

This is easy! My most watched movies of all time. No matter how well I know these movies, I can't get enough of them, and I always wonder what it would be like to have more to the story. Before, during, and after.

Say Anything
To know Lloyd Dobler is to love him.
And who doesn't love Lloyd Dobler? He's amazing, and loyal, and romantic!
"The world is full of guys. Be a man. Don't be a guy."
There are so many great quotes, I could be here for days.

Serendipity
Seriously, this is like watching Lloyd Dobler all grown up!
I watch this movie at least once a year, usually around Christmastime.
There's just something about the fate and destiny in this story that I really like.

Notting Hill
Oh yeah. Hugh Grant is just... oh so very. I have no words.
Yummy? That works for me.
Julia Roberts character is a complete beyotch and totally doesn't deserve him, but whatever. I can deal with it.

Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book?

Bad editing is inexcusable in a real, honest-to-goodness book from a publishing house. I can mostly forgive bad editing in a self published book. But bad writing will make me stop reading every time. I don't have time to waste reading crappy books. I would much rather read a book that I actually enjoy.

Q: What do you hope to accomplish with your blog? Is it to one day become an author yourself, just for fun, maybe get some online attention, or maybe something very different?

I started my blog mainly to keep track of my thoughts on books I have read and to have a place of my own to post my reviews. But I really enjoy connecting with other readers and finding new book recommendations. I have discovered so many great books from suggestions! I have discovered a ton of great bloggers who have similar tastes and I value their opinions on books. I'm just having a bit of fun here, not trying to change the world.

Q: What are you reading right now? How do you like it?

I am currently reading Rivals and Retribution (13 to Life #5) by Shannon Delany. I am not enjoy it at all! Pietr lost all of his appeal in book #4, and he still hasn't regained his personality or found his balls. Pietr and Jess are so lame as a couple right now that I don't even care if they are together. That makes me sad because I loved them in the first 3 books.

Book #5 (like book #4) changes POV between Jessie, Alexi, and Marlaena. My problems with this is that the POV changes almost every page, so it's hard to jump from one character to the next, and it makes the story very choppy. And I don't give a shit about Marlaena and her POV. She is a waste of time and space and I don't understand why she has become one of the main voices of the last 2 books. Also, Alexi was hotter than hot in book #4, but now his POV adds nothing to the story - his parts don't have any of the inner dialogue and turmoil that it did before. We get juicy bits like "We all stood around looking at each other" and "We all crammed in the car and I drove..." Downright compelling. Only NOT. It's filler.

I am past 200 pages currently and things aren't looking good for this book. Someone save me...

Q: Worst cover? What is the worst cover of a book that you've read and loved?

Past Perfect by Leila Sales

I don't think this book cover is so terrible. However, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the story. You would think that this is a scene from the book, but no, it's not. The protagonist spends most of her time in period costume since 75% of the story takes place at a Historical Colonial Village. If you haven't read this book yet, I highly recommend it! How can you go wrong with period reenactors? You can check out my review HERE.

Q: Do you read one book at a time or do you switch back and forth between two or more?

I prefer to read one book at a time. I like to really get into a book and feel it, breathe it, live it. And I can't do that if I'm switching books randomly because characters and storylines get mixed up and I can't remember what is going on. (Of course, right at this moment, I have 2 books going. But one is a picture book, so it doesn't really count as reading.)

What about you? Do you read more than one book at a time?

Q: What is the best book you've read in the last month? What is the worst book you've read in the last month?

The best book I have read in the past month would have to be Scarlet by A.C.Gaughen. Lots of action and great characters.

I have been reading a lot of crappy books lately. I have to stop trying to keep up with the latest hot books - they usually end up disappointing me. I still can't figure out why anyone would rate a book with 5 Jumping Fantastic Freakin' Stars and it turns out to be less than stellar to me. Does that happen to anyone else?

The worst book I have read in the past month is Illuminated by Erica Orloff. Which was my own choice to read, and it was less than what I expected.

Q: Have you ever looked at book's cover and thought, This is going to be horrible? But was instead pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and tell us about the book.

Major Crush by Jennifer Echols
Goofy, goofy cover. But a really cute read. Jennifer Echols has a way with humor and romance in her books. She seems to follow the same general formula with all of her books, but they are so enjoyable! Going Too Far is my favorite Jennifer Echols book. She has a new book, Such A Rush, that is coming out in July.

Q: Activity!!! Take a picture or describe where you love to read the most...

I try to read every night before going to bed, so that is the only time I read in bed. Sometimes I'll sit in the family room when it's daytime. When it's dark I sit on the chaise in the living room with the reading lamp. With a fuzzy blanket and my dog snuggled up keeping warm.

Here is my dream place. I can totally see myself reading here. Sadly, it's not mine. At least not yet. I have the fireplace and mantle.... now if someone would just build the bookcases, my family room would look just like this!

Q: I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What's the most unique character name you've come across?

I recently read Lies Beneath (Lies Beneath #1) by Anne Greenwood Brown and the male lead is named Calder, which I think is different (in a good way). Cassel from Holly Black's Curse Workers series. Dashiell from Dash & Lily's Book of Dares. I actually like all of these names because they are unique, but not so different that they stand out as weird.

But my all time favorite favorite 'unique' name is from Jennifer Echols' book Going Too Far. His name is John After, but he's really called Johnafter, like it's just one name. I love it! And it really goes with the story so well.

I appreciate everyone who has followed my blog. I know GFC is going away for non-Blogger blogs. Who knows how long it will be around for those of us on Blogger. You can always follow me by email. I don't know how much interest there is in the new Linky follower thingy (yes, that IS the official name for it). Leave me a comment and let me know if you prefer to follow in some way that I don't have available. Thank you!

Q: What would your prefer: reading your favorite book over and over again until you got sick of it OR reading 100s of mediocre books? And why?

Good question. I would definitely read my favorite book(s) over and over again rather than read 100 books that I don't like. I wouldn't want to waste time reading a mediocre book when I can jump into one I love and relive all the best scenes over and over again. I actually have kept my favs through the years on a shelf in my sewing room. I get the warm fuzzies when I take one out and flip through and re-read the yumminess.

Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kickass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?

I read a lot of different types of books. Most of my favorites have some kind of romance in them. I also have to like the characters in my favorite books. I don't like crying, whiny, helpless females who expect the male to pick up the pieces. I prefer males to be strong and take charge at the right time, sensitive when needed, have good morals and a great sense of humor. In a perfect book the male and female are equals.

Q: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?

Currently I only read YA. I started reading my mom's romance books when I was like 11 or 12, and after 30 years I've had my fill for now. I may get back into it later. I have absolutely no interest in reading Sci-Fi, Mysteries, Self Help, Religious, or Political.

Q: What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done to get your hands on any particular book?
Boring answer, but I have never done anything crazy to get a book. Maybe I paid too much for a book that I liked when I was a teenager. I looked for it for years and finally bought it when it was cheaper than I had ever seen it before. It was still expensive (for ONE book!) but now I have it and I don't regret the purchase.

Question of the Week: Many readers/bloggers are also big music fans. Tell us about a few of your favorite bands/singers that we should listen to in 2012.

I really love Civil Twilight. They are so good live. They have a new album coming out in March and the wait is killing me!

Everyone should listen to The Civil Wars! They're so unique and different (in a good way).

Question of the Week: Go count the number of unread books sitting on your shelf. How many?

9 ebooks (Amazon had some great $0.99 deals!)
11 physical books that I own
4 I just picked up from the library
7 on reserve at the library
and 117 on my Goodreads tbr (does that count? I only add books that I am GOING to read, so they should count.)

I only buy books that I know I am going to love and keep, so I mostly borrow from the library (which is right around the corner and convenient as hell. Plus, I have a well trained husband who does my book fetching for me.)

Question: The New Year is here — and everyone wants to know your New Years Blogging Resolution! What are you going to try to revise, revamp and redo for 2012 on your blog?

- I'm not new to blogging, even though this particular blog is fairly new, but I would love to have more interesting posts.
- I am going to continue the memes I am involved in currently.
- I need to get better at doing reviews. I do reviews as soon as I read a book, but sometimes I have a hard time putting what I think and feel into words.
- I really need to read more books. I read very quickly, so I just need to find the time to read more often. My tbr is HUGE!
- I need to work on the layout of my blog. I want to keep it simple so it doesn't look cluttered.
- I would love to have a giveaway. Soon.

Question: If you had to spend eternity inside the pages of a book which book would you choose and why?

Considering the name of my blog, would I choose anything other than Persuasion? I could stand an eternity of Captain Wentworth writing ME beautiful letters. Of course, Anne would have to scram. And that would also rid me of the silly sisters and ignorant father. Sounds perfect to me.

Question of the Week: When you've read a book, what do you do with it? (Keep it, give it away, donate it, sell it, swap it..?)

I borrow most of my books from the library, so those I return (obviously). If the book is really good I will buy it so I can keep it to read again and again. If I read the first book in a series and I enjoy it I will start buying the series to keep. All of the books that I purchase I keep, which truly delights my husband. Only not really.
