(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Expected Publication: May 31, 2023
Genre: M/M, Romance

Synopsis from Goodreads:

A serious health scare forces Martin Purdy to rethink his life. He quits his job, sells his house, and buys a set of fixer-upper cabins on the coast. There’s just one teensy problem. Along with the property comes a very angry man.

Nicholas Waugh had his own scare, bad enough that he slunk back to the crappy town he grew up in. With no home to call his own, he finagles a security gig keeping an eye on a set of vacant cabins. The deal comes with a free one-year lease–and he’s not leaving a day sooner.

Fifteen years of teaching college freshmen and patience is second nature to Martin. But Nick is giving Martin a run for his money. He’s one suggestive chainsaw sculpture away from justifiable homicide. If that wasn't enough, when he's not infuriated with Nick, Martin finds himself fighting an inappropriate and ridiculous attraction to the much younger man.

Everyone in Cooper Springs thinks Nick is crying wolf, but creepy stuff is going on around town and he is the only one paying attention. Human remains found in the forest, and a body dumped on the property he’s in charge of has Nick on high alert.

Meanwhile, all Martin wants to do is get started on the remodel. Instead, he’s fighting with Nick over things that go bump in the night and losing sleep worrying he’s made a disastrously wrong decision.

What will it take for Nick to let his guard down? What will it take for Martin to admit that age is just a number?

Welcome to Cooper Springs, home to UFO chasers, Sasquatch believers, conspiracy theorists, chainsaw artists, and regular folk just trying to make a living. And, quite possibly, a killer.

Expected Publication: June 2, 2023
Genre: M/M, Romance

Synopsis from Goodreads:

I’ve spent my entire adult life working eighty hours a week, chasing money, security, and success. When my recent start-up went under, leaving me with nothing to show for years of grinding myself down to the bone, I’m not sure who I am anymore. I never thought I’d be forty-eight with no money, living with my brother, and trying to figure everything out from scratch. But, here we are.

All that chasing didn’t leave a lot of time for romance or relationships either. Now I have all the free time in the world… but who would want a middle-aged failure anyway?

When one of my recent hook-ups turns out to be my new coworker, I’m starting to think the universe is having a good laugh at my expense. As if Auggie wasn’t tempting enough with all his tattoos and his surprisingly sweet smile, now I’m spending all day watching him work.

He’s impossible to resist, but that doesn’t make the timing any better. Body work is one thing, but I’m determined to keep my heart out of it. If only Auggie would stop baking me cookies and touching me in ways that keep my engine running all night long. I think we’re going to need some coolant in here, because things are definitely heating up.

Rear Ended is book 4 in the Big Bull Mechanics series but can be read as a stand alone. It’s full of mechanic puns, hilarious and swoony banter, tons of heat, and two men falling in love in spite of their best efforts to keep things casual.

How is today Wednesday again? I am totally off schedule. Between taking care of my Dad and running him to doctor appointments, and driving my daughter to work everyday, I am running on empty.

Both of these books are written by authors that I enjoy. Below Grade has 2 characters that were introduced in the first book, so I'm interested in learning more about them. Rear Ended is part of a series with bad covers and pun filled synopsis, but the book themselves are actually really good. It's just a thing the author does with all of her series/books.

Waiting On Wednesday (601) The Art of Husbandry (Mackenzie Country #1) by Jay Hogan

Expected Publication: June 1, 2023
Genre: M/M, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

When life drowns you in lemons, to hell with making lemonade. I wanted to burn the whole world. But eighteen months from the day my life was torn apart, I’m tired of the anger. Tired of the nightmares. Tired of putting one foot in front of the other just trying to survive. Three months on a high country sheep station in the middle of nowhere is exactly the reboot I need. A chance to break free. To breathe again. To find a way forward.

I put my entire life on hold and head south to Mackenzie Country. But falling for the captivating young station boss was never part of the plan. Holden Miller might be smart and sexy and push all my dusty buttons, but we come from two different worlds. I’m not looking for a relationship. I’m not interested in love. I’m done with all that.

But Holden doesn’t care about my rules. Nestled safely in the arms of the spectacular Southern Alps, on an isolated sheep farm at the top of the world, Holden begins knitting my battered heart together one careful stitch at a time. And with every pass of the thread, every braid of the river on our doorstep, I catch a tantalising glimpse of something I’d almost given up on.

Happiness, and maybe even love.

If I have the courage to reach out and grab them.

I enjoy this author's books. This sounds sad though, and I'm not in the mood for tear jerkers, so maybe I'll wait until a better time in my life to read this one. Oh well, I adore the New Zealand settings she uses in her books because it's so different than where I'm from. So at least I'm excited about that.

I haven't read much by this author, but I adore her Fish Out of Water series, so I'm hoping this is another series that I can fall in love with!

Holy crap. This is my 600th consecutive Waiting on Wednesday post. That's like... a lot.

Waiting On Wednesday (599) The Realist (The Vers Podcast #3) by Riley Hart

Expected Publication: May 17, 2023
Genre: M/M, Contemporary Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

To listeners of The Vers, a queer podcast I host with my three best friends, I’m known as The Realist—I accept life the way it is and believe in honesty over sugarcoating.

If you asked The Vers guys, they’d tell you I’m a caretaker who’s always thinking of others, but they also give over-the-top hugs and don’t believe me when I say feelings are the worst.

It’s why I have no business offering Kai Lewis a place to stay when he’s in need. He’s a flirt who makes no secret about wanting to date me…something I'd like if he wasn’t the employee of one of my closest friends. But, he’s too trusting and leaps before he thinks, so at least he won’t get taken advantage of if he’s with me.

Now he’s always around and saying he wants to take care of me because I’m always doing it for others. It’s not long before I can’t resist him.

Kai is sweet and funny. He gets me to open up to him. Maybe this whole relationship thing wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn’t nine years younger and leaving Southern California soon... or if I had any idea what I was doing.

I'm enjoying this series mostly because I like the way friendship between the guys are depicted. I also like that they aren't romantically linked to each other, so we get 4 separate romances without destroying the years long friendships.

Waiting On Wednesday (598) Cherry Picked (Sunday Brothers #3) by May Archer

Expected Publication: May 2, 2023
Genre: M/M, Contemporary Romance

(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

You might think a guy who's been reading romance novels his whole life would've figured out a smoother way to broach the subject, but in my defense, I’ve been pining for Jack for seven long years, just waiting for him to notice me.

Jack sees me as sweet, shy Hawk Sunday: his Pride and Prejudice-obsessed hiking buddy; his dependable employee; the honorary little brother he’s determined to protect.

But to me, Jack is everything a romantic hero should be: tall, gorgeous, kind, and brilliant.

Or at least I thought he was brilliant… until he started getting so many things so boneheadedly wrong.

I'm enjoying this series so far. Hopefully I'll like this book, too!
