From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men books comes the next installment in the Saints of Denver series.

Synopsis:

Everyone else in Dixie Carmichael’s life has made falling in love look easy, and now she is ready for her own chance at some of that happily ever after. Which means she’s done pining for the moody, silent former soldier who works with her at the bar that’s become her home away from home. Nope. No more chasing the hot as heck thundercloud of a man and no more waiting for Mr. Right to find her; she’s going hunting for him...even if she knows her heart is stuck on its stupid infatuation with Dash Churchill.

Denver has always been just a pit stop for Church on his way back to rural Mississippi. It was supposed to be simple, uneventful, but nothing could have prepared him for the bubbly, bouncy redhead with doe eyes and endless curves. Now he knows it’s time to get out of Denver, fast. For a man used to living in the shadows, the idea of spending his days in the sun is nothing short of terrifying.

When Dixie and Church find themselves caught up in a homecoming overshadowed with lies and danger, Dixie realizes that while falling in love is easy, loving takes a whole lot more work…especially when Mr. Right thinks he’s all wrong for you.

Expected publication: October 25th 2016 by Simon Pulse

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Barrie must rescue her beloved and her family from evil spirits in the masterful conclusion to the Heirs of Watson Island trilogy.

Caged by secrets all around her and haunted by mistakes that have estranged her from Eight Beaufort, Barrie Watson is desperate to break the curse that puts her family in danger—without breaking the beautiful magic that protects Watson’s Landing. To do that, she must heal the rifts that have split the families of the island apart for three hundred years, unravel the mystery of the Fire Carrier and the spirits he guards, and take control of forces so deadly and awe-inspiring they threaten to overwhelm her.

With the spirits that cursed Watson Island centuries ago awake and more dangerous than ever, she finds an unlikely ally in the haunting and enigmatic Obadiah, whose motivations and power she still can’t read—or trust. His help comes at a price, however, plunging Barrie into a deadly maze of magic and wonder, mystery and intrigue that leads through history to places she never imagined she could go.

Is it wrong that I can't wait to read this, even though I haven't read the second book in this series yet? I need to get on that.

What are you waiting on this week?

Review: Fall Deep (SEALs Undone, #4) by Zoe York

Fall Deep (SEALs Undone, #4)Fall Deep (SEALs Undone, #4) by Zoe York

Publication Date: June 23, 2015
Publisher: ZoYo Press
Page Count: 161 pages
Source: Free on Kindle

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Navy SEAL Miles Dumbrowski is on his way back to war. He isn’t supposed to fall in love.

Piper Harrington left San Diego behind, looking for adventure in Europe. The no-strings, easy-breezy kind of adventure.

Now her heart is headed to the Middle East with a man she won’t see for months. But Miles seems intent on proving he's worth the wait for that second date.

 photo MyThoughtsBanner2_zps1bk1ovpj.png

I started reading this series right in the middle. That didn't really matter since each story can be read as a stand alone. I had no problem diving right in and enjoying this book.

Fall Deep was a military romance that dealt with deployment and long separations. Heavy subjects, but I liked the way they were handled. The forced separation between Piper and Miles made them communicate and support each other long distance, and I liked they were able to get to know each other in a non-traditional way. The story lacked action, but that didn't really bother me too much. There was also insta-lust, but I almost expected it since this is such a short book. This was a quick read that was sweet and romantic with a HEA. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Dash and Lily have had a tough year since readers first watched the couple fall in love. Lily’s beloved grandfather suffered a heart attack, and his difficult road to recovery has taken a major toll on her typically sunny disposition.

With only twelve days left until Christmas — Lily’s favorite time of the year — Dash, Lily’s brother Langston, and their closest friends take Manhattan by storm to help Lily recapture the holiday magic of New York City in December.

Told in alternating chapters, The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily reunites two beloved characters and is bound to be a Christmas favorite, season after season.

It's hard to think about Christmas right now because it's still so freaking hot. But I found some freebie Christmas books on Amazon earlier this week, so I have Christmas on my brain.

Is it still hot where you are?

Review: Cupcake Overload (Cupcakes, #2) by Bethany Lopez

Cupcake Overload (Cupcakes, #2)Cupcake Overload (Cupcakes, #2) by Bethany Lopez

Publication Date: August 22, 2016
Page Count: 266
Source: Purchased

Synopsis from Goodreads:

One night I was out with my girls enjoying a much needed ladies night while wondering if one more dirty martini would push me over the edge. The next thing I knew, I was in the club’s bathroom listening to a woman screaming, “No,” and a man’s voice growling, “I know you want it.”

That asshole picked the wrong restroom, in the wrong club, at the wrong time.

Little did I know the asshole was Cade’s VP, and although we saved that woman from his clutches that night, she’d be found floating in a motel pool a month later.

Running a PI firm is a lot harder than taking pictures for one, especially when your professional life spills over into your personal one. I’m going through cupcakes like our new puppy goes through piddle pads, and if I’m not careful there’s bound to be a Cupcake Overload.

WARNING: THIS BOOK CONTAINS FOUL LANGUAGE, SEX, SOME VIOLENCE, AND SHENANIGANS. IF NONE OF THAT BOTHERS YOU, GRAB A CUPCAKE AND READ ON!

 photo MyThoughtsBanner2_zps1bk1ovpj.png

This book is full of cupcakes and crazy! Just like the first book, I loved the way the story played out. I also really loved the characters. Lila is just unusual enough to be interesting. Her no nonsense personality helped her transition seamlessly into running her new PI firm. She's such a hoot, and her inner dialogue made me laugh out loud. I loved hot, motorcycle riding Cade. He ended up being such a great guy, and a wonderful addition to Lila's family. He was a perfect mix of wild, sexy, and sweet. What more could you ask for in a guy? I also really liked Lila's friends and their escapades. They were such a fun loving group of really strong women.

This was a fun story, full of mystery and romance, and it made me smile and feel good afterwards. This may not be a typical romance, but it was a really great book!

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Bodyguard. [Noun]
A person hired to escort and protect another person. Escort and protect. Definitely no flirting, kissing, or testing the bounds of third base.

Dean Foster has nearly two decades experience being calm, cool, and collected. His first gig in his new private security contractor role should be more of the same, but Nashville superstar Liana Hansen blows all that out of the water in one breathy hello.

Liana isn’t sure how she feels about the straight-laced cop shadowing her everywhere she goes, but there’s no denying the chemistry between them. Too bad he insists on keeping his clothes on. And then there’s the pesky matter of feelings. Neither of them likes those.

With only a dozen stops left on the tour, one of them is going to have to bend. Or the other is going to wind up breaking something.

This will be out in just a few more days. I'm so excited!

The first book in this series, Love In A Small Town is FREE on Amazon.

Review: Riverbend Road (Haven Point, #4) by RaeAnne Thayne

Riverbend Road (Haven Point, #4)Riverbend Road (Haven Point, #4) by RaeAnne Thayne

Publication Date: June 21, 2016
Page Count: 361
Published by: HQN Books
Source: ebook borrowed from library

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Return to Haven Point, where New York Times bestselling author RaeAnne Thayne proves there's no sweeter place to fall in love.

Protecting the streets of Haven Point isn't just a job for police officer Wyn Bailey, it's a family tradition. But lately she's found herself wanting more, especially from her boss—and overprotective brother's best friend—sexy chief of police, Cade Emmett. The only problem is getting Cade to view her as more than just a little sister.

Cade's hands-off approach with Wyn isn't from lack of attraction. But his complicated past has forced him to conceal his desire. When Wyn is harmed in the line of duty, Cade realizes the depth of his feelings, but can he let his guard down long enough to embrace the love he secretly craves?

 photo MyThoughtsBanner2_zps1bk1ovpj.png

I believe this is my first book by RaeAnne Thayne. I may have read one of her romances waaaay back in the day, but I can't be sure. I saw a couple of really good reviews for this book, and for this series, and I thought it sounded perfect for me. However, this book was just okay.

The story is really sweet, but not much happened. While I liked both of the leads, Wyn and Cade, I didn't learn much about them. I never got behind their relationship because there wasn't much development in the characters or the story. They barely spent any time together! I was expecting more from a romance, so the 2 short kissing scenes really did nothing for me. The rushed ending wasn't very satisfying.

Overall, I was underwhelmed with this book. It was nice, but there was nothing special or really memorable about the story or characters.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Addison Sullivan has been in an accident. In its aftermath, she has memory lapses and starts talking to a boy that no one else can see. It gets so bad that she’s worried she’s going crazy.

Addie takes drastic measures to fill in the blanks and visits a shadowy medical facility that promises to “help with your memory.” But at the clinic, Addie unwittingly discovers it is not her first visit. And when she presses, she finds out that she had certain memories erased. She had a boy erased.

But why? Who was that boy, and what happened that was too devastating to live with? And even if she gets the answers she’s looking for, will she ever be able to feel like a whole person again?

I haven't heard much about this book, but the synopsis sounds really good.

Review: Always Room for Cupcakes (Cupcakes, #1) by Bethany Lopez

Always Room for Cupcakes (Cupcakes, #1)Always Room for Cupcakes (Cupcakes, #1) by Bethany Lopez

Publication Date: February 2, 2016
Page Count: 143
Source: Purchased

Synopsis from Goodreads:

One day I was be-bopping along jamming to the music in my head while wondering if my thighs could handle grabbing a cupcake on the way home. The next thing I knew, my entire world crashed and burned.

I used to wake up at night in a sweat, crying because I’d dreamt that my husband was cheating on me, or that he hated me, and resented my kids. He’d always hold me close and tell me it was all just a dream, that he loved me and our family and that he’d never let me go.

He was a fucking liar.

Now I spend my days taking photos of scum just like him, trying to be a champion for other's being taken advantage of by the losers in our town, and my nights being a single mom to my beautiful twins.

I've got great friends who have my back, and a sexy, mysterious motorcycle man who keeps showing up when I need him. Maybe things are starting to look up, and one thing's for sure... There's always room for cupcakes.

WARNING: THIS BOOK CONTAINS FOUL LANGUAGE, SEX, SOME VIOLENCE, AND SHENANIGANS. IF NONE OF THAT BOTHERS YOU, GRAB A CUPCAKE AND READ ON!

 photo MyThoughtsBanner2_zps1bk1ovpj.png

Well, that was certainly different and unexpected. I'm still processing this story, but it was quite good. I don't know why I'm surprised by how much I liked it.

Lila and Cade were both likable characters, and I really enjoyed them together. But I have to admit they did seem to make an odd pair. Lila is a newly divorced single mother, and Cade is a motorcycle riding bad boy who's never had a serious relationship. I have no idea how they are supposed to make things work, I just know they were delightful to read about.

I would describe this novella as a romantic comedy with a touch of mystery. There was a brief incident of violence that I found jarring at the time, but I got over it easily enough.

Overall, I found Always Room for Cupcakes to be highly entertaining. I'm looking forward to reading book #2 and finding out more about the elusive Cade.
