Waiting On Wednesday (549) Crankshaft (Big Bull Mechanics #1) K.M. Neuhold

Expected publication June 3, 2022
Genre: M/M, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

I don’t have time for a relationship, not even with the adorably dorky vet I can’t seem to stop bumping into…

Between running a garage full of beefed up, gear head mechanics and bailing my idiot brother out of trouble every other week, the last thing I have time for is a relationship.

I’ve tried it too many times, and the ridiculous reasons I always find to end it have become a running joke around the garage. But I’ve learned my lesson. No. More. Boyfriends.

I don’t care how many times Porter falls asleep drunk in my bed or how cute he looks covered in oil smears while I teach him how to fix up the vintage car he has rusting away in his garage, I’m not going to fall for him.

Even if I did, what do a mechanic and a veterinarian have in common anyway?

This is a spin off of this author's Four Bears Construction Series, which I enjoyed reading. Let's hope I like this new series just as much.

Waiting On Wednesday (548) The Sceptic (Arcana Books #1) by Lily Morton

Expected publication: May 26, 2022 by Lily Morton
Genre: M/M, Romance, Paranormal

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings

(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

As the best friend of a psychic, Will Buchanan can’t help but believe in the dead. It’s the living that he finds to be problematic. However, after a spate of betrayals, he finally has the chance of a new life within his grasp, and he’s not going to risk it for anyone or anything. Staying safe is the name of Will’s game.

Jem Dawson defines the word temporary. A talented cameraman, he’s here today and will undoubtedly be gone tomorrow chasing adventure and danger. But, while he’s in York, he’s made it clear he wants Will, and Will can’t help liking the charming daredevil.

This inconvenient attraction results in Will accompanying Jem to the site of a notorious poltergeist outbreak. A malevolent spirit has targeted a family, and now the ghost hunting team for whom Jem does camerawork are going to be locked down in the house for three days.

The house is strange and filled with sinister and violent undercurrents. One by one, the group experiences threatening incidents, and as events escalate, Will has to ask himself if he's risking not just his heart but also his life with this impulsive gesture.

This is the first book in the Arcana Books series featuring characters from the bestselling Black and Blue series.

I really want to read this because... Ghosties!!! Or rather, more ghosties, as this is a spin off from another ghost series. So yay for more ghosts!!

Waiting On Wednesday (547) Hitched (Licking Thicket: Horn of Glory #2) by Lucy Lennox and May Archer

Expected publication: June 1, 2022
Genre: M/M, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Former Marine Percy “Champ” Champion has never encountered a problem he can’t handle. Flying bullets? Daring jungle rescues? Building Champion Security from the ground up? Making people seriously regret using his hated first name? No problem. He’s gotten the job done without a hitch each and every time.

But it turns out there are some situations Champ can’t handle alone, like:

• Going undercover as a wedding planner to retrieve some missing cartel data in time to avert an international crisis.

• Keeping his jerk of an ex from threatening his business.

• Preventing Quinn Taffet, Licking Thicket’s gorgeous, charming new wedding planner—and Champ’s fake fiancĂ©—from getting into danger… or from getting the wrong idea about their relationship.

• Fighting the pull that lands him in Quinn’s bed night after night, despite his very best intentions.

• Stopping the pun-happy matchmakers of the Thicket from destroying the sane, well-ordered life he’s built for himself.

• And, most troubling of all, protecting his traitorous heart from all the romance in the air.

In short, Champ needs an extraction plan ASAP before he finds himself well and truly… hitched.

Just like last week, this is another series that I don't know why I continue reading. Well, that's harsh. I did enjoy the original Licking Thicket series, so I guess I'm trying too hard to make this series something it's not. I also like these authors separately, but together they can write OTT characters and situations. Whatever. I'll still be reading this one.

Waiting On Wednesday (546) Kiss Marry Kill (Dr. Maxwell Thornton Murder Mysteries #6) by S.C. Wynne

Expected publication: May 30, 2022
Genre: M/M, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

River Martin has begun to reveal his true motives for being in Rainy Dale, and, shocker, it’s not good news for Maxwell Thornton.

If Maxwell is going to go to war with River, he’ll need people on his side. In his quest to be more of a 'people person', he’s roped into attending the wedding of one of his young patients, Janelle Raiden.

The bride is stunning in white silk tulle. The groom is appropriately doting. The cake is pure buttercream decadence. Everything about the wedding seems so very, very perfect.

Until the groom’s dead ex-wife makes an appearance.

I am finding it hard to say just what it is about this series that keeps me reading. It's not the greatest thing ever - but I do like the main characters, for the most part. It's a cozy M/M murder mystery romance... and I think it's trying to be so many things that it just falls short. And the writing is just okay... And I guess I'm okay with that (????) because I keep picking up the next book. I don't know!
