Review and Giveaway: Jet by Jay Crownover Blog Tour

Jet (A Marked Men Novel #2) by Jay Crownover
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date: May 28, 2013
Event organized by: Literati Literature Lovers

Synopsis:

With his tight leather pants and a sharp edge that makes him dangerous, Jet Keller is every girl’s rock and roll fantasy. But Ayden Cross is done walking on the wild side with bad boys. She doesn’t want to give in to the heat she sees in Jet’s dark, haunted eyes. She’s afraid of getting burned from the sparks of their spontaneous combustion, even as his touch sets her on fire.

Jet can’t resist the Southern Belle with mile-long legs in cowboy boots who defies his every expectation. Yet the closer he feels to Ayden, the less he seems to know her. While he’s tempted to get under her skin and undo her in every way, he knows firsthand what happens to two people with very different ideas about relationships.

Will the blaze burn into an enduring love. . . or will it consume their dreams and turn them to ashes?

About the Author:

Jay Crownover is the bestselling author of Rule. Like the characters in her Marked Men series, she is a big fan of tattoos. She loves music and wishes she could be a rock star, but since she has no aptitude for singing or instrument playing, she'll settle for writing stories with interesting characters and that make the reader feel something. She lives in Colorado with her three dogs.

First off, let me say that I did not read Rule before reading Jet, but it's all good because Jet can be read as a stand alone. I really enjoy books with alternating POVs because it allows me to get to know both characters. With this book, I can honestly say that I loved Jet's POV the best. I am giving this one 3.5 Stars because, while I liked the story and thought it had a lot of potential, it fell a little short for me. It was still a very good book that I really enjoyed reading.

I did not connect with Ayden and Jet as much as I would have liked. I think it was because I didn't have anything in common with either character, so I couldn't understand where they were coming from. Ayden was headstrong, determined and independent to a fault. I was frustrated with her at times because I couldn't figure out the decisions she made about certain things. I know she was caught between who she used to be and who she is now, but she had too much back and forth for my taste. I just wanted her to make a decision and stick with it.

Jet had a screwed up view of love and relationships because of his terrible upbringing. I felt that I had a better grip on his character and I could understand his way of thinking more than I could Ayden. I liked Jet because he was really loyal had a soft side that he wasn't afraid to show. He was a bundle of overflowing emotions and let out his inner angst through his music. I loved how he was able to deal with his thoughts and feelings in a constructive way.

I loved the secondary characters in this story so much. I think the close knit group of friends was my favorite part about this book. Ayden and Jet's friends were a great fit, and I loved how loyal they were and how much they cared about each other and were really there for each other in good times and bad. I really liked Rowdy, so I hope he gets his own story soon.

For the most part, I thought the writing was very good. There were times when the dialogue and/or internal thoughts were repeated over and over. There was a little bit of unbelievability in some of the drama, but the story was never boring, and I thought the pacing was perfect. Overall, I had a really enjoyable time reading Jet, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to read it. I've had Rule on my tbr for a while, and I am just dying to read it. I must admit that I am very intrigued by Rome, and I can't wait to read his story next.

  2. I fell in love with Jay Crownovers book rule so this was a no brainer to purchase the second book Jet. And I wasn't disappointed. The love story that Is written here is one that you find yourself getting lost in. I cannot wait for the next book.
