Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)
Expected Publication: May 31, 2023Genre: M/M, Romance
Synopsis from Goodreads:A serious health scare forces Martin Purdy to rethink his life. He quits his job, sells his house, and buys a set of fixer-upper cabins on the coast. There’s just one teensy problem. Along with the property comes a very angry man.
Nicholas Waugh had his own scare, bad enough that he slunk back to the crappy town he grew up in. With no home to call his own, he finagles a security gig keeping an eye on a set of vacant cabins. The deal comes with a free one-year lease–and he’s not leaving a day sooner.
Fifteen years of teaching college freshmen and patience is second nature to Martin. But Nick is giving Martin a run for his money. He’s one suggestive chainsaw sculpture away from justifiable homicide. If that wasn't enough, when he's not infuriated with Nick, Martin finds himself fighting an inappropriate and ridiculous attraction to the much younger man.
Everyone in Cooper Springs thinks Nick is crying wolf, but creepy stuff is going on around town and he is the only one paying attention. Human remains found in the forest, and a body dumped on the property he’s in charge of has Nick on high alert.
Meanwhile, all Martin wants to do is get started on the remodel. Instead, he’s fighting with Nick over things that go bump in the night and losing sleep worrying he’s made a disastrously wrong decision.
What will it take for Nick to let his guard down? What will it take for Martin to admit that age is just a number?
Welcome to Cooper Springs, home to UFO chasers, Sasquatch believers, conspiracy theorists, chainsaw artists, and regular folk just trying to make a living. And, quite possibly, a killer.
Expected Publication: June 2, 2023Genre: M/M, Romance
Synopsis from Goodreads:I’ve spent my entire adult life working eighty hours a week, chasing money, security, and success. When my recent start-up went under, leaving me with nothing to show for years of grinding myself down to the bone, I’m not sure who I am anymore. I never thought I’d be forty-eight with no money, living with my brother, and trying to figure everything out from scratch. But, here we are.
All that chasing didn’t leave a lot of time for romance or relationships either. Now I have all the free time in the world… but who would want a middle-aged failure anyway?
When one of my recent hook-ups turns out to be my new coworker, I’m starting to think the universe is having a good laugh at my expense. As if Auggie wasn’t tempting enough with all his tattoos and his surprisingly sweet smile, now I’m spending all day watching him work.
He’s impossible to resist, but that doesn’t make the timing any better. Body work is one thing, but I’m determined to keep my heart out of it. If only Auggie would stop baking me cookies and touching me in ways that keep my engine running all night long. I think we’re going to need some coolant in here, because things are definitely heating up.
Rear Ended is book 4 in the Big Bull Mechanics series but can be read as a stand alone. It’s full of mechanic puns, hilarious and swoony banter, tons of heat, and two men falling in love in spite of their best efforts to keep things casual.
How is today Wednesday again? I am totally off schedule. Between taking care of my Dad and running him to doctor appointments, and driving my daughter to work everyday, I am running on empty.
Both of these books are written by authors that I enjoy. Below Grade has 2 characters that were introduced in the first book, so I'm interested in learning more about them. Rear Ended is part of a series with bad covers and pun filled synopsis, but the book themselves are actually really good. It's just a thing the author does with all of her series/books.
What are you waiting on this week?
Nice picks! Both are new to me ones but glad you can still enjoy the story despite a series of bad covers! Lol. Good thing we readers know that though we love a pretty cover, the opposite can still have a great story within!
