Waiting On Wednesday (505) Charles (Learning to Love #1) by Con Riley

Expected publication: July 22nd 2021 by Figment Ink
Genre: M/M, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Life should be a breeze for a playboy like Charles Heppel. As the third son of an earl, he lives for the moment, partying and playing. Settling down isn’t for him. Not when London is full of beautiful men who he hasn’t one-and-done yet.

To escape his family’s nagging, Charles applies for a temp job that matches his playful skill set. A role in a Cornish classroom could be his until the summer, if Charles meets two conditions: he must move in with the headmaster’s best friend, and teach him to be happy.

Living with Hugo should be awkward. Charles is a free spirit, but Hugo’s a man of faith, with morals. A man who almost took holy orders before disaster changed his direction. Only far from being a chore, Charles finds that making Hugo happy soon becomes his passion.

Together, they share physical and emotional first times. Ones that change Charles, touching his soul. He wants Hugo for longer than they have left, but learning to love with his heart, not just his body, will take a leap of faith from Charles — in himself as well as Hugo.

I'm sick. I've got a stupid cold / snot / post nasal drip / cough thing going on and not feeling the greatest. My daughter is counseling at a summer camp this year and she brought home the yuckies 2 weeks ago. My husband had it last week, and now it's my turn. Ugh. But I did manage to read a book each of the last 4 days that I haven't felt good. So I'm slowly catching up on my Goodreads challenge. So.... Yay???

I started a different series by this author last summer, but I only read the first book. I don't know if it was me, or the writing style, or something else but I thought it was just okay. I didn't continue the series because it didn't interest me. This is the start of a new series, so I'm giving the author one more chance to wow me before they go on my do not read list. (The 'list' that's not official or anything, and is only in my head, but totally keeps me from wasting my time in the future.)

Waiting On Wednesday (504) Pause (Larsen Bros #2) by Kylie Scott

Expected publication: July 13th 2021 by Kylie Scott
Genre: M/F, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

When Anna wakes up from a coma after a car crash, she discovers life has gone on without her. Her husband has been unfaithful—with her best friend—and she’s been long since replaced at work. While her old life is a distant memory, her new life feels like an empty shell. Then she meets the stranger who saved her life during the crash, and he changes everything.

Leif Larsen—tattooist, joker, and player—has his own scars thanks to the crash that put Anna in a coma. Helping her move on from her failed marriage, and create a new life, sounds like a perfect distraction. So when he needs a new roommate, he invites Anna to begin her new life with him.

Although their lives may have been put on pause, together they just might find a way to heal.

I used to read this author back in the day. I haven't been reading much M/F romance lately, but I saw this on Goodreads (He totally looks like Guy of Gisborn/Richard Armitage!! I had to do a double take.) and I wanted to see what it was about. So I remember reading the first book in this series several years ago, but now I'm kind of leery of this one since I'm not convinced that 2 brothers (the MCs of each book) can both have have love interests with coma/memory loss. But, yeah, I'll still probably read this.

Waiting On Wednesday (503) Scoring With Him (Men of Summer #1) by Lauren Blakely

Expected publication: July 9th 2021 by Hot Men Books
Genre: M/M, Sports, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Falling for the rookie wasn't part of the plan. As a pro athlete, I have one unbreakable rule when it comes to men -- Don't date another baseball player. Good thing I haven't been tempted once in four years in the majors.

Until the day a rising star walks into my locker room. Outgoing, affable, and sexy-as-sin, Grant has confidence and talent for miles. He seems to get me too, maybe because we each have our fair share of secrets and scars -- ones we'll both fight to protect.

But, I've got far too much trouble in my past to want to bring any into my present. All the more reason to resist the kind of dirty deeds his lips and eyes promise. Even after I plant a scorching, hot kiss on the rookie one night after a game. Even after he sends me the world's sexiest selfie.

But when Grant reveals his biggest secret, I'm so damn ready to rip up the rulebook. The only rule? Don't fall in love with him as we go.

I've only read one book from this author, and I wasn't all that impressed. However, I'm willing to give her a second chance, so this book better be good! Seriously though, I'm a huge sports fan, but usually books about sports gets SO much wrong! I guess I just have to let reality slide and go with it.

(On a side note, how is this author so freaking prolific? According to Goodreads, 32 books in 2020? 21 in 2019? What's going on here?)

Waiting On Wednesday (502) Stripped (Four Bears Construction #6) by K.M. Neuhold

Expected publication: July 2, 2021
Genre: M/M, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

A ripped, transgender construction worker and a tweed-wearing, tortoise-shell-cozy-knitting, bear of a professor... Somebody's getting stripped.

The last place I expected to run into my childhood camp crush was at the local university, looking all kinds of cute in a tweed jacket with a nervous blush. I’ve always had a bit of a thing for the nerdy professor type.

Demetri says he doesn’t date. I want to believe that it’s true and not that he’s not interested in a transgender man like me. If all he can offer me is friendship, I’m more than happy to take it.

Shy looks during sweaty workouts, rainy nights on his couch watching him knit shell cozies for his pet tortoise… I’m falling for him whether I want to or not.

Can I break down his walls and prove to him that he can trust me with his heart? And can I trust him with mine?

Not Shifter "Bears", in case you wondered. This has been a really great series so far. I'm interested in seeing how this author handles the transgender aspect.

Waiting On Wednesday (501) Redirection (Borealis: Without a Compass #3) by Gregory Ashe

Expected publication: June 29th 2021
Genre: M/M, Romance

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

When it comes to your ex, nothing is ever easy.

The Borealis boys are settling into their new normal, or at least into their new digs. But when North’s soon-to-be (please-let-it-be-soon) ex-husband, Tucker, is arrested and charged with murder, everything goes sideways.

Hired by Tucker’s parents, North and Shaw begin looking for proof that Tucker is innocent, in spite of the evidence against him. When they find seemingly incriminating photos hidden in Tucker’s BMW, North is convinced that someone is trying to frame Tucker—and might get away with it.

But the cast of alternate suspects presents its own challenges: an estranged son, a betrayed wife, and North and Shaw’s close-knit circle of friends from college—men who had their own connections to the victim, and who had their own reasons for wanting him dead. A threatening email suggests that the motive, whatever it might be, lies buried in the past, in a relationship gone wrong. The question is, which one?

When Tucker is poisoned, North and Shaw realize that the killer isn’t finished. Clearing Tucker’s name won’t be enough; they must find the killer before someone else dies. And to do so, they will have to unearth truths from their own pasts.

I'm really excited about this series, but I still need to read the 2nd book. It came out in May and I just haven't had time to get to it. I feel like I've been reading SO slowly recently. It's taking me a week to read a 200 page book. Ugh.

I'm currently 16 books behind on my Goodreads challenge, and it makes me feel bad every time I see it on there. Anyone else this far behind on their Goodreads challenge?

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Will Darling is all right. His business is doing well, and so is his illicit relationship with Kim Secretan--disgraced aristocrat, ex-spy, amateur book-dealer. It’s starting to feel like he’s got his life under control.

And then a brutal murder in a gentleman’s club plunges them back into the shadow world of crime, deception, and the power of privilege. Worse, it brings them up against Kim’s noble, hostile family, and his upper-class life where Will can never belong.

With old and new enemies against them, and secrets on every side, Will and Kim have to fight for each other harder than ever—or be torn apart for good.

I've been eagerly awaiting the conclusion of this trilogy! While I'm loving the romance, I'm also enjoying the action and the setting. These were the first books I read by this author, and now I'm interested in checking out some of her other works.

Waiting On Wednesday (499) Shiftless (Night Shift #3) by T.A. Moore

Expected publication: June 19th 2021
Genre: M/M, Romance, Paranormal

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Night Shift is the city's thin, silver line- and some nights it's thinner than others.

It isn't the fact he almost died last night that's thrown Night Shift officer Kit Marlow. He's used to that. It's the fact that instead of a werewolf trying to rip his throat out, it was his friend and colleague who tried to put him in the ground.

Well, 'friend.'

Now Marlow's been framed for a murder he didn't commit by a man who's committed more than his fair share. Half the cops in San Diego want to see Marlow behind bars for what he's supposedly done, and the other half want him dead before he can tell his side of the story. The problem is that he can't tell them apart.

There's only one person in town that Marlow can trust, even though he knows he shouldn't drag Cade Deacon into his problems. The sharp-tongued CEO of a private security firm might have gotten close to Marlow over the last few weeks, but taking on the SDPD is a lot to ask.

Marlow doesn't have much choice, though. If he can't clear his name before the last full moon of the month sets, he might not see another one. That'd be a shame since Marlow would really like to spend the night with Cade without needing protective gear.

I just started reading the second book and Marlowe is trying not to be 'eaten' by Cade after he shifted while they were trapped in a car together! Run and don't look back! You can worry about your 'date' later... like after the full moon is over.

My major complaint with the first book in this series was that there was ZERO world building. I'm hoping things get cleared up for me soon, though. I know I would like it a hell of a lot better if I knew wtf was going on!

Waiting On Wednesday (498) Scandal at the Salty Dog (Secrets and Scrabble #4) by Josh Lanyon

Genre: M/M, Romance, Cozy Mystery

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings
that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
(WoW was previously hosted by Breaking The Spine.)

This my favorite day of the week because I love sharing and discovering new books.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Mystery Stalks the Cobbled Streets of Pirate's Cove.

Who or what is haunting elderly recluse Juliet Blackwell, what does it have to do with mysterious goings-on at the Salty Dog Pub--and why is any of it mystery bookshop owner Ellery Page's problem? According to sometimes boyfriend Police Chief Jack Carson, it's not Ellery's problem, and Ellery should stop asking awkward questions before it's too late.

Ellery couldn't agree more, but it's hard to say no when someone is as frightened as old Mrs. Blackwell. Mrs. Blackwell insists the ghost of long dead pirate Rufus Blackwell has come to avenge himself on the last member of his treacherous clan.

Before Ellery can say, "Yikes!" Mrs. Blackwell takes a tumble down the grand staircase of her spooky mansion, and it's up to Ellery to find who is trying to kill his eccentric customer.

Another surprise release from this author!! "Sometime in June" doesn't mean May 31 to me!! Whatever. I'll take it. This is already waiting for me on my Kindle, but I'm in the middle of reading a trilogy by this author, so I have to finish that first before I can switch gears.
