Q: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?
Currently I only read YA. I started reading my mom's romance books when I was like 11 or 12, and after 30 years I've had my fill for now. I may get back into it later. I have absolutely no interest in reading Sci-Fi, Mysteries, Self Help, Religious, or Political.

ReplyDeleteHi , I've never read a Harlequin romance novel , no . thanks for following ! New follower :)
ReplyDeleteNot all Harlequin romances are terrible. I know it's not everyone's thing. I got tired of reading them years ago.
DeleteYup, not a fan of sci-fi either.

I read mostly YA, although occasionally I'll be in the mood for a romance novel too. I try not to avoid any genre entirely.
ReplyDeleteNew follower! :)

New follower! Ugh, I agree with you on the political - I didn't even think of that one! That is what my husband likes to read --- snore! Here is my FF if you'd like to follow back: http://theonceandfuturelibrarian.blogspot.com/2012/01/follow-friday-4.html, and while you're there check out my giveaway for a copy of New Girl by Paige Harbison!
ReplyDeleteI only recently returned to YA, okay it was more like in 2009 or 2008--dang really that long ago?! Basically just before Richelle Mead's Blood Promise came out because my online friends said I had to read Vampire Academy, give it a try. And I loved it! So I now read Paranormal YA too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and following my blog! I follow you now too!
Have a GREAT weekend!
NEW Follower :D
I love YA too, but for me it has to have a horror edge. I love to have the bejesus scared out of me. Happy FF, thanks for the follow on my blog. Just come over to return the favour!

Do you like YA SciFi or when you say YA is it just contemporary fiction YA?

I'm actually reading anything and everything YA right now. I swore I would never read YA dystopian books (because I really hate the word dystopian) but I'll be darned if I'm not reading it now. I don't read adult sci-fi - I just can't get into it even though I am 43 and should be reading 'adult' books. People give me crap for reading YA, but I like it.
DeleteHey! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteFollowing ya back. Great blog!
Esha@ Readaholicme
I agree with your list!
ReplyDeleteYA is mostly what I read (with a few exceptions). There are varieties of YA I avoid. I'm VERY selective about paranormal because so much of it has the mopey female heroines. I almost always avoid vampire books.
ReplyDeleteIn general I avoid romance. Occasionally with help I give something a chance. But I'm just not particularly girly so the overly romantic stuff just makes my tomboy side balk.
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
